ADMINISTRATOR

Steven Freifeld was born in the Bronx in 1966. He lived there for over 20 years and attended New York City public schools. He graduated from Baruch College with a BBA in Marketing and graduated from Iona College with a Masters in Health Administration. As his family was already in the long-term care field, it was a natural fit for him to follow. Steven has worked in many facilities for almost 30 years in the nursing home field. He was a consultant for over 50 facilities and the Administrator-of-Record in 4 long-term care facilities. He has been in the Bronx Park family for 13 years and, along with a great team of family owners and department heads, strives to make this facility the best in New York State.

Alexander takes great pride in personally connecting with every new resident, ensuring their needs are met, and fostering a strong bond with them and their families. Through his attentive approach and genuine care, he strives to create a welcoming environment where residents feel valued and supported. He is dedicated to providing reliable administrative support for our fantastic team at Bronx Park.

Adel Busante, Rn

DIRECTOR OF NURSING

Adel Busante is our Director of Nursing/Assistant Administrator with over twenty-five years of experience working at Bronx Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. Adel’s career began in 1994 as a Unit Charge Nurse. Adel’s passion to help others allowed her to advance in her career, quickly working her way up from Charge Nurse to Nursing Supervisor to Assistant Director of Nursing. In 2000, Adel moved further into her career to become the Director of Nursing, and in 2020, she added the role of Assistant Administrator. Adel is a powerful force in the workplace and uses her positive attitude and tireless energy to encourage others to work hard and succeed. Adel believes that resident care should be a nurse’s priority.

Alice Gatasi, BSN RN, is the Assistant Director of Nursing at Bronx Park Rehab. A graduate of Western Mindanao State University in Zamboanga City, Philippines, Alice displays strong communicative, interpersonal, and leadership skills to lead our successful nursing staff.

Dorys Gil

Dorys is excited to be working at Bronx Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center and integrating her knowledge of women’s and men’s health. Dorys has years of experience treating and helping others.

If Dorys’ first passion is helping individuals feel better, her second is teaching. She spends a lot of time helping others to understand their bodies, why they have dysfunction or pain, and educating them on self-help strategies to integrate throughout their day. It is through education that individuals can make progress when they understand what daily activities are helpful or harmful.

Dorys believes rehabilitation should be the first line of defense toward helping each resident achieve their functional goals and get them back to living their life to their fullest potential possible.

Jaclyn Ryan, MSW

DIRECTOR OF SOCIAL SERVICES

A graduate of Columbia University with a Master's Degree in Advanced Clinical Social Work Practice, Jaclyn has a nursing background with many years of experience in the Social Work commerce, working with various populations throughout the years with an emphasis on the geriatric population. Jaclyn is highly knowledgeable, diligent, and compassionate in the work that she does.
She works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team on the micro and macro levels to ensure the needs of clients and their families are met. As a director, she strives to make a difference in the overall psychological well-being of each client from admission to discharge planning. With her collaborative work efforts and evidence-based practice approach, she focuses on understanding client’s comorbidities as well as the cognitive, behavioral, and emotional challenges clients face daily. Jaclyn fosters an environment promoting and enhancing the quality of life and the highest practical level of mental, physical, and psychosocial well-being of each client. She maintains an open-door policy and remains readily available to assist clients and their families throughout their stay. “Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.”

With many years of experience in the nursing home industry, working previously in various sectors from nursing secretary, administrative assistant, and clinical/staffing coordinator to assisting with HR and Admissions, Rose has gained her experience as a Social Worker at Bronx Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. She has a passion for aiding individuals with their needs. She is full of compassion and dedicated to creating a safe, positive, and caring environment while showing outstanding commitment to the residents and families. Rose is a team player who focuses on building a solid team that residents and families can rely on. She connects with other departments to help coordinate care and provide needed resources and ultimately smooth their successful stay, either in their Long-Term Care at the facility or when they return to the community to maintain a better quality of life.

Bronx-born and raised, Melissa has been in the food service industry locally for almost four decades. For 25 years, Melissa has been a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and has enjoyed serving the community and striving to provide healthy meals in the tastiest way possible.

ACTIVITY DIRECTOR

Michelle Ortega is the Activity Director at Bronx Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. She has 10 -11 years of experience working in nursing facilities and providing care for the elderly. She strives to implement activity programs designed to ensure the well-being of the residents. Her duties are identifying the needs and developing activity programs according to the past and present interests of all residents. Michelle strives to provide recreational programs that all residents can attend and participate into the best of their abilities.
Fun fact: Michelle loves to sing and dance with the residents.

Emma is a Registered Nurse and has been in the healthcare industry for 15 years. Prior to being a nurse, she used to work for one of the largest pharmaceutical companies , Pfizer paved her way into realization that Nursing is really her passion.

Emma has a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the Lyceum University in the Philippines and has extensive work experience with long term care facilities.

Romana is the MDS Assessor/Coordinator at Bronx Park, involved in Residential Assessment, Facility Reimbursement, and Improvement in the quality of life for our residents. She has been an MDS Coordinator for over 15 years and a PRI Assessor in Skilled Nursing Facilities in the Bronx and Yonkers, NY. Romana’s goal is to understand the needs of our residents through assessment and facilitate their care. Romana perceives this opportunity to improve the lives of our residents as a great privilege.

Michael works at Bronx Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center as their Director of Maintenance. His responsibility is to make sure everything's in good functioning order. Michael is always available to assist if there is a problem at any time. At Bronx Park, the team is warm and friendly; they take their jobs very seriously and perform their duties to the highest. Michael's goal is to continue to grow at Bronx Park.

Omar Gentles is the Assistant Director of maintenance at Bronx Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. As Assistant Director of Maintenance, he is responsible for ensuring everything functions correctly; if anything needs to be fixed, Omar is the one to call. Omar loves his job. His goal is to continue to grow at Bronx Park.

Bettsy McLauchlin

Bettsy McLauchlin is the Administrative Assistant to the Administrator for Bronx Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. In this position, Bettsy works closely with the Administrator and Directors, providing administrative assistance and support. Bettsy joined Bronx Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in 2008. Before her position as the Administrative Assistant, she served as the Director of Activities, implementing and leading recreational and leisure activities modified to suit the needs of the residents. Because of her willingness to undertake various tasks, it led her to advance to other directorial positions, which then led her to move to Administrative Assistant in 2020. Bettsy is committed to completing any task and will go above and beyond to get the job done.

Melissa has extensive experience working with the pediatric population in a clinic and therapeutic school environment, as well as in early intervention and school-based settings. She has worked with the geriatric population in various outpatient clinics and nursing homes. Melissa loves helping elderly people return to their highest functional status possible and believes that everyone has the potential to thrive with the proper support.

Rey has worked in various settings, from private practice to hospital and rehabilitation facilities consisting of orthopedic, post-surgical, sports medicine, pediatric, geriatric, and neuro patients. He worked in outpatient physical therapy clinics in New York. Rey feels fortunate and blessed to help facilitate patients’ return to their normal lifestyle through his profession.

Cheryl is a cheerful and happy woman. She has been working at Bronx Park as a receptionist for 14 years and loves it here. She loves the people she works with and considers them her family. Cheryl calls Bronx Park a miracle worker because her brother came to live at Bronx Park, and he arrived in a wheelchair, not able to walk. And physical therapy worked so well on her brother. He now walks better than Cheryl, she says. Cheryl loves and respects Bronx Park so much.
